Olive Branch Wreath
Using a metal ring for the base of this wreath gives a traditional decoration a modern twist. I love this wreath as it is with the simple olive branch stems, but it’s also easy to customize with any other flowers you create. Switch the flowers out with the seasons or whenever you want a fresh new look.
Supplies
• 4 finished olive branches
• 3 leaf pairs made by attaching an olive leaf to each end of a 3˝ piece of 20-gauge wire
• 12˝ metal ring
• Needle-nose pliers
• Wire cutters
• Scissors
OLIVE BRANCH WREATH
STEP 1: Connect the branches. Position one branch slightly below another and twist the stems together to connect them. Repeat to connect the remaining two branches.
STEP 2: Connect the large branches. Position the two branches opposite one another, pointing outward with the bottoms of the leaves together. Twist the stems together a few times to join the branches.
STEP 3: Attach the branches. Place the branches on top of the ring. Wrap the stem of each branch around the ring several times to secure it. Trim off any excess wire.
STEP 4: Attach the leaf pairs. Twist the leaf pairs onto the ring over the center of the olive branches. Wrap them around both the ring and the stems of the branches, positioning them so the leaves will be on the front of the ring when you finish. This will help cover any visible wire from the olive branches and help secure them. If you’d like, make more leaf pairs and add them to other areas of the wreath as desired.
STEP 5: Finish. Fluff the leaves and position them as needed to cover any exposed wire or fill empty spaces. Your wreath is ready to display!
