CHAPTER 29

The wedding weekend was kicked off on Thursday afternoon, by taking everyone into the town of Borris for lunch and a tour of Borris House for a little more Kavanagh history. Coleman was given the Kavanagh Charter Horn to use in their ceremony. They ended the day with a few pints at the original Kavanagh’s Pub.

The following two days were all about game shooting on the estate. Seamus, the gamekeeper was well prepared with a few assistants. Everyone was wearing coats and vests, and hats in muted plaids of green, brown and burgundy. Several cocker spaniels were used as flushers on the hunt for pheasant. Coleman had an Irish Toy Collie named, Useful; a beautiful dog that Lili adored, but Useful was dedicated to Coleman, never leaving his side.

Only Coleman had seen Lili carry a rifle so it was a complete surprise to everyone what a pro she had become.

“You’re going to kill something?” James looked shocked.

“Yes, and then we are going to clean it, and prepare it, and eat it for dinner,” Lili said. “Everything with respect, James.” Lili cocked her gun and held it in position.

Keith draped his arm around James’s shoulder, “Our little girl is growing up.”

The following day was more game shooting, but this time Coleman’s family was there. Aunt’s and Uncle’s that Lili had not met yet. A four-course culinary delight was served for lunch. They had rearranged the tables in the small dining room into one long table.

Lili stood up before lunch began and thanked everyone for coming. “It is a good day when so many people can gather in one place to enjoy a piece of life. It has been a long road to Ballymurrough, but my joy cannot be measured on this day. Thank you all for coming. It’s time to celebrate.” Lili held her Irish coffee to toast and so did everyone else. “Slainte.”
