Map 57

Believed to be the inspiration for CS Lewis’s Narnia, Hampstead Heath was absorbed into London proper during the Victoria era but still feels more like one of the Home Counties. With the exception of the blight on the landscape that is the Royal Free Hospital, the area is charming with boutique shops and restaurants on the South End Road, which cater to a refined and heavy-walleted crowd.
