CHAPTER 10 Continuous Improvement
CHAPTER 11 Scaled Professional Scrum
In the first two parts of this book, I introduced you to practicing Professional Scrum using Azure DevOps. The first eight chapters should be sufficient to enable a Professional Scrum Team to start using Azure DevOps to plan, manage, and execute their work in an agile way. I’ve done my best to nudge you toward the Professional Scrum practices you should consider, as well as the shiny distractions you should avoid.
Going forward, how you use Azure DevOps and practice Scrum will be up to you. It will be up to you individually and as a member of a Scrum Team to experiment, inspect, adapt, and improve. That’s what the final part of this book is all about—improvement—as a team and at scale. Over the next several chapters, you will be exposed to the concept of flow, including how a Scrum Team could measure and improve it. You will also be made aware of some common challenges facing self-managing Scrum Teams. This is done not to scare you away from Scrum, but to inform you of what impediments and dysfunctional thinking lurk in every organization.
The final chapter in this section will cover scaling and how to control the chaos when multiple Scrum Teams collaborate to build a single product. This will also be an introduction to the Nexus scaled Scrum framework as well as how Azure DevOps supports planning and managing work at scale.
