Turkey Picante Pie

Great-tasting pie with a little zip!

Original recipe yields

1 large or 2 small pies

Cooking day instructions

Brown turkey with onion and garlic in large skillet. Stir in picante sauce, cumin, and salt. Simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in tomato, zucchini, olives, 1½ cups cheese, and cornstarch. Freeze, using freezer bag method.

Serving day instructions

Sprinkle ½ cup cheese on pie crust, then spoon mixture over cheese. Top with crust with slits cut in. Bake at 400 degrees for 35 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.

Hints

A double batch of this recipe makes 3 medium (9-inch) pies with approximately 3¼cups of mixture in each pie.

For pie to have pretty glazed look, brush top of pie crust with beaten egg white prior to baking.

Substitution

Ground beef may be used in place of ground turkey.
