1 9- or 10-inch pie crust

Cooking day instructions

Mix flour and salt together with a fork. Cut shortening into flour mixture with a pastry cutter until well blended and evenly mixed. Blend in warm water with a fork, then work with hands until dough is smooth. Dough may be formed into disks and frozen at this point, using the freezer bag method, or may be assembled into pies (for example, Aunt Clara’s Dutch Apple Pie) and frozen.

Serving day instructions

For whole pies, thaw or bake while still frozen, according to pie recipe directions. For pie dough disks, thaw and roll out to form pie crust.
