Ashton
I sat up in Will’s bed and turned around to face him. “I’m sorry, what did you say?” I mean, I couldn’t have heard him correctly. He didn’t really want me to spend Spring Break in California, did he?
Hey, my aunt is dying to meet you. And we did spend Christmas in Connecticut. Don’t you want to meet my fucked up family in the flesh? I mean, it’s my turn.”
“You said your aunt was the epitome of normal.”
Will flashed me a grin. “Yeah, but we’ll probably get to see Mom.”
And that’s what I was afraid of. “I don’t know, Will.” I sank back against his pillows. “After everything you’ve told me about her, I think I’ll have a hard time being nice to her.”
He curled around me and the warmth of him brought a smile to my face. “You’re nice to everyone except your brothers.”
That wasn’t entirely true, but mostly, I guessed. “I’m usually nice to Matt.” Even if my brother was the cause of Dad’s current legal separation.
Will laughed. “Come on, Ash. We’ll probably just do dinner with her. We’ll be with my aunt the rest of the time.”
His aunt that he adored. And he wanted me to meet her. We were a month away from break but my stomach twisted at the thought anyway. What if his aunt didn’t like me? Then what? “You wouldn’t rather go to Florida or…Oh!” I added excitedly, “I heard a lot of people are going to Myrtle Beach this year. We could go with a big group and—”
“She’ll love you.” Will tightened his hold on me. “There’s nothing to worry about.”
He always seem to read my thoughts even when he wasn’t looking in my eyes. It was almost uncanny. “How can you be sure?”
“Because she’ll see how much I love you and how happy you make me, and...she’ll love you for it.”
I released a sigh and turned in his arms to see him again. “So we’ll do California beaches instead?”
He grinned at me. “Yeah, but the water’s cold. Just FYI. No gulf stream.”
“Oh, you’re doing a great job of selling me on this,” I teased.
“Too honest for my own good?”
I laughed. “Always! But I’ll go with you anyway.”
“Yeah?” He squeezed me. “Can’t wait to show you LA.”
And if I was being honest, it wouldn’t matter where we went or who we saw, not as long as we were together. There was no one in the world like Will Parke and I was the luckiest girl in the world to have found him. #TrueLove
