CHAPTER SIX
WHAT CHANGED?
Y
ou can't be doing the same thing the same way and expect a different result. Until you get uncomfortable with average, until your eaglet realizes she doesn't belong to so the hen family, only then can she fly and soar!
It got to a stage in my life where I would comfort myself with soothing words
“You can't have everything all fixed “
“Everything you become on earth remains here “
“Everything requires sacrifice and you should leave something on the line to enjoy life”
As true as this sound, they could become your limiting barriers if you don't brace up.
DECIDE YOU NEED TO CHANGE.
Regardless of the number of seminars you attend, books you read or messages you listened to on personal development, nothing will change until you have deliberately decided to change.
Many people are suffering from constipation. Yes, they have eaten too much without digestion or excretion. Exactly is the case with you when all you do is just read books, attend workshops, and listen to messages without taking time to intentionally internalize all you have fed yourself with.
To experience the desired change, you need to consciously practice all you have read.
One of the best way to do this is to give yourself a window period of say 6 months, 1 year or 2 years of consistent practice of these things you have learnt, decide to prove if these words are true or not and trust me the results will drop your jaw.
This was exactly what I did and today, I am a very better than some of those people whose workshops I attended and whose books I read.
BE UNASHAMEDLY YOU
When I began to take personal development and branding seriously. I was disadvantage, well at least to some people.
I was a separated lady with a child; oftentimes I am always confused on how to introduce myself. The shame of bearing a status that does not fall into the class of married, single nor widowed made me feel like a plague, but I can't thank my angel enough Ms. Osimosu who never failed to charge me and made me see the brighter side of my status.
In no time I had unashamedly carried my new badge and I was marveled at how many audiences really need to hear from someone with such badge.
I was honorably invited to speak at top notch programs, singles and married program which I did unashamedly. Many of these fetch me income, some brought me influence and all gave impact with testimonials backing it up.
I found purpose painfully but it's was instrumental to where I am now. I learnt that you could decide to see light in whatever seemingly darkness you are now and you could also chose to see more darkness.
I chose to see light and I saw light.
What do you see?
DO IT AFRAID
You probably must have heard this (do it afraid) overtime. It is sure valid, do it afraid. The earlier you fail the better.
You cannot imagine a civil servant who had worked for 35 active years without any thought of business or investment, only to retire and begin a new business he/she never practiced.
The reality about business is that it could come with hiccups. Many people who now specialize on a certain type of business didn't begin with that very one. Many failed first before figuring out which exact to focus on now.
Now imagine the civil servant who use all his /her retirement funds to begin a fresh business which he is without prior knowledge of, by the time the business fails, it could be disastrous.
Now imagine someone in her early 30s or before 30 who already began business or any venture at that. Regardless of how many times he/she fails, there is still strength and luxury of time to try again. I am not saying anyone who starts late won’t make it, but I am charging you to start early.
