About the Author

Mirabai Starr writes creative nonfiction and contemporary translations of sacred literature. She taught Philosophy and World Religions at the University of New Mexico-Taos for twenty years and now teaches and speaks internationally on contemplative practice, compassionate action, and the teachings of the mystics across the spiritual traditions. Mirabai has received critical acclaim for her revolutionary new translations of John of the Cross, Teresa of Ávila, and Julian of Norwich. She is the award-winning author of God of Love: A Guide to the Heart of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, which positions her at the forefront of the emerging interspiritual movement, and Caravan of No Despair: A Memoir of Loss and Transformation, a book about the extraordinary coinciding of the publication of her first book, Dark Night of the Soul, with the sudden death of her beloved daughter Jenny. Mirabai has been teaching online courses about women mystics and goddesses with The Shift Network since 2013. With Wild Mercy, Mirabai offers the fruit of decades of study, teaching, and contemplative practice in a fresh, slightly subversive, lyrical voice to a growing circle of women and men thirsty for the life-giving essence of feminine wisdom. She lives with her extended family in the mountains of northern New Mexico.
