Dubai International Airport

After Kornev disembarked from the aircraft, he reached into the inner pocket of his dark leather jacket. He fumbled for the correct passport. He ended up pulling out all three fake passports and the car key that fit the vehicle he’d parked at his Air Cress terminal in Termez. Stuck between the passports were a bunch of boarding passes from previous flights he had taken to reach Dubai. He disposed of the excess paper in the trashcan. Kornev contemplated throwing away one of the passports he had already used and had no intention of using again. Giving it some consideration, he decided the airport trashcan wasn’t the best place to dispose of any passport. Some do-gooder custodian might find it and hand it over to airport security. Who knows what would happen to it. If he was being electronically tracked through airline databases, he needed to use a fresh passport. He selected the passport he would use to pass through Dubai customs, sliding the other two back into his coat pocket. All that remained was the key for the old car resting in his hand. After he killed the CIA agent, he could never go back to Termez or any of the other safe houses he’d provided to her upon interrogation. Thus, he no longer had the need for either the car or its key.

Without a second thought, he dropped the key into the trash and headed toward Dubai’s customs area.
