Linda E. Mitchell is the Martha Jane Phillips Starr Missouri Distinguished Professor of Women’s and Gender Studies and Professor of History at the University of Missouri—Kansas City. She is also senior editor of the international journal Historical Reflections/Réflexions Historiques. Dr. Mitchell is the author of numerous books and articles on medieval history, in particular focusing on the British Isles, women, families, and gender. Her publications include Portraits of Medieval Women (Palgrave Macmillan, 2003), Family Life in the Middle Ages (Greenwood Press, 2007), The Ties That Bind: Essays in Medieval British History in Honor of Barbara Hanawalt (co-editor, Ashgate, 2011), and Joan de Valence: The Life and Influence of a Thirteenth-Century Noblewoman (Palgrave Macmillan, 2016).
