The site of the Battle of Pharsalus, a decisive conflict in Caesar’s Civil War, which took place on 9 August 48 BC at Pharsalus in central Greece. Varro supported Pompey and was present at the battle; however, two pardons were granted by Caesar to Varro and he escaped the penalties of being on the losing side.
