Berner Street as it was in 1888. The entrance to Dutfield’s Yard was fronted by two wooden gates with a small door on the right-hand side. The building on the right was the International Working Men’s Club at No 40 and Matthew Packer’s fruit shop is marked by the window on the extreme left.
