“We live by faith, not by sight.”

— 2 Corinthians 5:7

Faith in His Word

We base our actions and our lives on what we believe, not what we can see with our eyes or experience with our senses. Instead of magnifying our circumstances, we should focus on the truth in God’s Word.

Your homework is so hard you can’t do it? Truth: “I can do all this through him who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13). God’s Word says you can lean on his strength and power to get the job done.

Your conversations with that angry person always end up in fights? Truth: “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger” (Proverbs 15:1). God’s Word says if you answer him with a gentle answer, it will turn aside his anger.

Are you going to believe what you see with your eyes and experience with your emotions? Or are you going to believe what God says in his Word? Remember, “God is not a man, that he should lie” (Numbers 23:19 KJV). His Word is the absolute truth.

Your problems may not disappear overnight. God may seem slow in coming to the rescue, but he uses the waiting time to stretch your faith and encourage you to be steady in prayer. “We fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal” (2 Corinthians 4:18).
