Strength from Within

Kylie ate a whole box of cookies, after promising herself she’d just eat two. She was so tired of trying to lose the weight her doctor suggested. Amber was disappointed too, but in her mom. She’d promised again to make it to her soccer game, but when Amber scored the winning goal, her mom wasn’t there to see it — again. Amber felt like quitting.

What can these girls do for strength when their own has run out? As believers, they can pray for help. “In the day when I cried out, You answered me, and made me bold with strength in my soul” (Psalm 138:3 NKJV).

Whenever we experience a disappointment, we need inner strength and encouragement. God — out of his unlimited resources — gives us that strength to endure with a good attitude. As you trust in God more and more, Jesus will be more and more “at home” in your heart. When that happens, your disappointments won’t seem like such a big deal because you’ll know you’re not alone. Even more than God wants to remove your pain or uncomfortable circumstances, he wants to use them first to help you grow.
