“The Israelites were unfaithful in regard to the devoted things.”

— Joshua 7:1

Admitting Your Mistakes

After Moses died, God put Joshua in charge. Joshua was devoted to God and did everything God told him. But did the people keep God’s commandments about how the moving tabernacle was to be handled? You guessed it. NO.

This time it seemed like God wasn’t going to give them a second chance. The Israelite army went up against a weaker army and got beaten. Joshua fell facedown in front of the ark and wailed, “Now everybody’s going to think we’re a bunch of losers, and they’ll all be out to get us.”

God told Joshua to stand up and face the truth. The Israelites were defeated because somebody had stolen stuff from the tabernacle of God and were using it for themselves. What did they expect?

If you want another try — if you don’t want to be defeated by your own sin — you have to admit you were wrong and do what God wants you to do. As long as you do that, God will turn your mistakes around. He wants to do that for you.
