“Go in the strength you have.”

— Judges 6:14

Use What You Have

The Israelites were doing so much bad stuff, God handed them over to their enemies, the Midianites — not a nice group of people. Naturally they cried out to God, so he sent them a prophet to explain all over AGAIN what they needed to do and be.

That prophet was Gideon, and he was truly bummed out. The angel of the Lord said to him, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior” (Judges 6:12). Gideon said, “If the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us?” It seems obvious to us why, but God told Gideon to go with the strength he had, and he would strike down those evil Midianites. He said he’d be with him.

After the Israelites had strayed from God a million times, God was still willing to give them one more chance, through Gideon, who was from the weakest clan and was the smallest and youngest guy in his family.

You, hopefully, don’t have to do battle with large bands of enemies, although it may seem like it at times. When those times come, God wants you to use whatever you have, and he will be with you, giving you that one more chance.
