“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

— Isaiah 41:10

Loneliness

Suppose your parents divorce, and you have to move to a new school district. The first day of school may be a lonely experience. In fact, the whole first month you might feel invisible. Your classmates already have best friends to hang with. You’ve never felt so lonely. When you finally tell your mom about it, she says, “I wish I could go with you to school and be your best friend, but I can’t. However, I know someone who will go with you.” She helps you understand that God will help you and give you strength and never leave you alone.

One way to fight loneliness (or any other problem) is to make the Bible verses personal to you. Say them out loud. You might say today’s verse like this: “I do not fear, for God is with me; I am not dismayed, for he is my God. He will strengthen me and help me. He will hold me up with his righteous right hand.” Making the verses personal and speaking them aloud will increase your trust in God. It can give you a peace and reassurance you never had before.

Even when you feel lonely, you’re not alone. God is right there — holding tight to your hand as he holds you up.
