“See, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.”

— Isaiah 65:17

New Beginnings

Have you ever asked someone to forgive you, and she did? But then she reminded you every chance she got what it was you did that she had to forgive you for? How much did you hate that? Maybe you’ve been on the other side of that too. You TOLD someone you forgave her, but you couldn’t seem to resist the chance to bring it up every now and then. Why do we do that?

Our Father doesn’t hold a grudge or expect you to carry guilt inside you for the rest of your life over every mistake you’ve made. It’s over, and you are free to go on living tomorrow better than you have today. And if you make a mistake tomorrow — which you surely will because you’re a human being — you can go to God without feeling as if you’ve already had all your chances.

It’s sort of hard to believe, but you CAN believe it, and to show it, simply celebrate it. Every time you go to God for a new start, rejoice with a grin, because God loves you enough to forget your past. It just doesn’t get any better than that.
