Have you ever made a plan, done all the work required to make it happen — and then it turned out to be a mess? Who hasn’t had that happen! There are so many things that can go wrong with any plan, and sometimes it seems like all of them do. That isn’t always true, thankfully. And it’s never true with God’s plan.
“Wait a minute,” you may be thinking. “A lot of bad stuff happens. Is that part of God’s plan?” That is a very tough question. When things that we consider to be bad happen, we only know that:
• people have the freedom to act as they will, so sometimes they’ll try to mess up God’s plan.
• God knows the WHOLE plan for the WHOLE world, and we don’t. What we consider to be “bad” may be a necessary part of the BIG PLAN.
• God is always there to help us through the bad, hard things.
• if we listen to him and follow what we hear, nothing can thwart God’s plan for US. Like it says in Isaiah 14:24: “The Lord Almighty has sworn, ‘Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will happen.’ ”
