“He made known to us the mystery of his will . . . to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth together under Christ.”

— Ephesians 1:9 – 10

Growing Up God’s Girl

I bet you’ve been asked this question — probably by some grown-up who was trying to have a conversation with you and couldn’t think of anything else to ask: What do you want to be when you grow up?

If you were five or six at the time, you probably had an answer all ready — firefighter, doctor, astronaut, rock star. And if asked a week later, you had a different answer — ballet dancer, zoo keeper, ice skater, depending on what you saw on TV in between.

These days it might be a little harder to discuss that. Who has time to think about what you’ll be doing a bajillion years from now?

There’s one specific thing you CAN know now, because it’s what God has planned for each one of us. He wants every single one of us to belong to Jesus Christ. That’s why he sent Jesus, and why Jesus appointed apostles to spread his message, and why Jesus will return when God has everybody gathered together. So next time a grown-up asks what you’re going to do with the rest of your life, you can tell her: I’ve already started. I’m a Christ-follower.

There’s no mystery about that.
