“Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand.”

— Psalm 73:23

In His Grip

Sometimes — at school, at home, at a friend’s sleepover — we are hit with the fearful thought: “I don’t belong here, and I don’t fit in.” We aren’t alone, but we feel lonely just the same. At times like these, remember that you still belong to God. He always accepts you. In fact, he’s holding on to your hand so you can’t get lost and are never alone.

Being lonely can make you depressed and dismayed, but help is on the way! “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious right hand” (Isaiah 41:10 NLT). Sometimes God will fill your heart with so much love that your loneliness just disappears. You can’t explain it; it just melts away. Sometimes he sends people to you — in person, on the phone, through e-mail or a text message — to meet your need for company. He will meet your need in different ways at different times.

No matter what happens, remember that you’re not alone. You always belong to God. He has your hand firmly in his grasp, and he will never let go.
