“So we don’t look at the troubles we can see right now; rather, we look forward to what we have not yet seen. For the troubles we see will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever.”

— 2 Corinthians 4:18 (NLT)

Joy Forever

Everything in this world is temporary, both the things you love and the things you hate. Problems with your parents and at school will pass away. It’s the same for the good things: your solo in band, your cool wardrobe, and that new mountain bike. Even the things we like are temporary, but heaven will provide such fabulous attractions that these good earthly things will hardly seem worth noticing.

If you’ve accepted Jesus as your Savior, your real home is already reserved for you in heaven. How should you live on earth now? “Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. For we live by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:6 – 7). In other words, we walk by faith in our heavenly future.

Try it! Fill your mind with the joy to come that will last forever.
