“We cannot stop telling about the wonderful things we have seen Jesus do and heard him say.”

— Acts 4:20 (TLB)

An Expert Witness

Ava had it in for JayCee. She called her a geek because JayCee loved math and made fun of the fact that she was a Christian.

“So, where was your God on 9/11?” she jeered, “Out to lunch, like you?”

“Let’s talk about it,” JayCee said, but Ava walked off. Then the unthinkable happened: Ava was failing in math. So the teacher asked JayCee to be her study partner.

Working with JayCee closely and seeing her live out her faith in little ways left an impression on Ava. She still made fun of JayCee every chance she got. But three months later, she asked her if she could drop in on youth group to “check out this Jesus dude.”

Jesus told us to “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere.” (Mark 16:15 NLT). There are dozens of ways we can do that. Like JayCee, we can witness without words — spread the Good News by showing rather than telling. Some girls may roll their eyes when you say Jesus wants us to treat others how we want to be treated. But if they see you do it . . . they just might ask you about it.
