How way cool would it be if whenever you had to confess something to your parents, you had a friend murmuring the right words in your ear? And would it not be totally awesome if the very minute you started to do something wrong, this same friend froze you in place so you couldn’t mess up?
The Holy Spirit is just such a friend. It’s the Spirit that guides our thinking and gives us our words and influences our actions. Part of God’s plan for everybody, including you, is that you don’t have to figure out everything on your own.
The Spirit has already been working in you for some time. That day you almost laughed at the kid who stutters, and then you suddenly told everybody to leave him alone; that night you nearly lied to your mom about your report card, and then blurted out the truth; that morning you woke up deciding to get ready without being nagged are all evidence that God’s Holy Spirit was working in you, showing you how great life can be if you just let him have his way with you.
