“Think of ways to encourage one another to outbursts of love and good deeds.”

— Hebrews 10:24 (NLT)

Be a Spirit Lifter

To encourage means to inspire someone with courage and hope, to raise their confidence and lift their spirits. It means to think of ways to contribute to someone else’s growth or progress. We are to spur each other on to perform good efforts and generous expressions of love.

Do you know anyone who needs some encouragement? Do you have a friend whose family is going through a divorce? A sister who didn’t make the cut on the basketball team? How could you convince your friends or family members to be of service (along with you) to build up this person’s spirits?

Don’t just feel sorry for someone. Instead, do something positive. Right now, you might be thinking, “But who’s going to encourage me?” Unfortunately, many believers feel like they can’t help someone else if they’re feeling down in the dumps themselves. Not true! In fact, that’s one of the nice things about lifting someone else’s spirits. While you are busy encouraging people and getting your friends to help, your own joy will go through the roof!
