“Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.”

— 1 Peter 5:9

In It Together

Abby felt alone though. She felt like her parents just wouldn’t let her grow up, and it was embarrassing. She couldn’t see the videos other kids saw. Her parents pulled her out of movies shown at school that they considered inappropriate. Her classmates made fun of her for it. Her mom had to okay Abby’s clothes before she bought them. That meant popular short-shorts, tight tees, and tiny bathing suits all were left behind in the dressing room. Abby felt like such a baby. She finally let out her frustration in youth group one night. To her amazement, six other girls said they had the exact same frustration! Whether the girls liked it or not, they had godly parents who watched over them. This sometimes brought unfair suffering when the girls got ridiculed at school. When that happens to you, what should be your reaction? “When you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God” (1 Peter 2:20 NKJV).

No one enjoys being called a baby. Even so, thank the Lord if you have parents willing to help you lead a godly life in an ungodly world. They care about you so much!
