“Trust God from the bottom of your heart. Don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go. He’s the one who will keep you on track.”
— Proverbs 3:5 – 6 (MSG)
If you hike through the wilderness in a national park, you can hire a guide. He’ll keep you on safe paths, away from bears and poisonous snakes. He’ll show you the clean streams for drinking water and lead you by the prettiest scenery. Or you can go out on your own. Your chances of snake bite, bear attack, polluted water, and falling off a cliff increase immediately.
Your life is like a path through that wilderness, and God is your committed guide. The hike may still be strenuous, but you’ll have a safer and much more enjoyable experience. Coming up with your own plan and ignoring God and his Word can put you in the way of many dangers and unnecessary tough times. Avoid being a know-it-all. “Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn your back on evil” (Proverbs 3:7 NLT).
Trust God and keep on a well-guided path that will lead to inner beauty and outward faith.
