“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

— 1 Peter 5:7

Cast Away Your Cares

Nobody likes to carry anxiety on her shoulders. You know, that gut-twisting feeling inside when you think your clothes look weird, or you dread being called on in class when you don’t know the answer. Most girls feel anxious when doing something different, like meeting new people or trying to ice skate for the first time. But anxiety can also attack when you’re reading a book or watching a movie and something reminds you of a bad time in your past. Everyone has anxious thoughts. The good news is that you don’t have to keep them!

You can cast your cares and worries on the Lord, because he’s concerned for you and wants to help you. But you have to mean it. None of this wishy-washy “giving your worries to God” and grabbing them back a minute later. CAST your anxieties on him — throw them with great force, so they stay put. Get rid of them! Believe that he has every situation under control, that he sees your need and is willing to meet it. Don’t carry your anxieties and worries a minute longer. Wind up, take aim, and throw those cares away!
