“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

— Deuteronomy 31:8

No Fear Here!

What a comfort to know that we are never alone, that in every scary situation the Lord himself goes before us to mark out a safe path, then walks us through it. We don’t need to let discouragement stop us, and we never need to turn and run in fear.

Fears come in all shapes and sizes. You might experience fear of the dark, ferocious dogs, or crashing thunderstorms. Most people fear performances, whether it’s a dance recital or giving a book report in class. Maybe your fears are even bigger, like fear of parents divorcing or fear that a sick grandparent won’t recover. Will God be there through it all? Absolutely!

Whatever your fear, the answer is the same. “For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we may boldly say: ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?’ ” (Hebrews 13:5 – 6 NKJV).
