“He created them male and female and blessed them.”

— Genesis 5:2

Beautifully Blessed

When somebody sneezes, you say, “God bless you.” When you sit down to eat a meal, someone asks the blessing. If you live in the South, whenever anybody does anything nice, somebody else is sure to say, “Bless your heart.”

We bless all over the place, most of the time without even thinking about it. But when someone is blessed by God, that means:

• she will grow to be fabulous.

• she can influence others in major ways.

• people will listen to her.

• she has a responsibility to care for the world and for the life she’s been given.

From the beginning, God has blessed each newborn baby in that way. You, then, can grow and be even more awesome than you are now. You can show God to other people, so their lives can be amazing too. You can do that, because you know it’s your job. You can, because you are blessed.

Not everybody takes that blessing seriously. Some people don’t even know about it. But it’s who you are in God’s eyes.

So go, Blessed One. Grow and be fabulous. Change lives. Speak out. Care for the world. It’s what you were made to do.
