“Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.”

— Psalm 9:10

Falling In Trust with God

Have you ever played the “Trust Fall” game? You know, the one where you stand on a chair and fall backwards, trusting that your four or five friends standing below will catch you before you hit the floor? Trusting God can be a little like playing this game.

Trust means talking to God, telling him we know he’s with us, and then believing he can help us through anything — even though we can’t see him. As Christians, it’s how we live. We’re “ . . . sure of the things we hope for,” and “certain of the things we cannot see” (Hebrews 11:1 TEV). For us, it’s not “seeing is believing” but “believing is seeing.”

One word explains how we can do this: Jesus. He’s proof positive that the Father exists, because he, himself, is the Father’s reflection. Jesus confirmed that when he said: “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father!” (John 14:9 TLB). The fact that the Father would send Jesus, his only son, to die on the cross for our sins is also proof positive the Father loves us — a whole lot.
