“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.”

— Galatians 6:7

A Bounty of Blessings

Don’t be misled. Remember that you can’t ignore God’s laws and get away with it. You always harvest what you plant. (You plant corn — you harvest corn.) You always harvest more than you plant or sow. (You plant a bushel of corn, and you reap hundreds of bushels back.) You always harvest later than you sow. (You plant corn, you wait during the growing season, and you reap during the harvest season.) The same is true of your actions — your seeds — no matter what kind.

This principle works both positively and negatively. Those determined to do whatever they please, no matter what God’s Word says, can count on reaping a negative harvest of problems and destruction. For those living a godly lifestyle, it is a promise of reward and blessings, and an encouragement to persist in doing what’s right.

What kinds of things can you sow as seed? Money you give away can be a seed you plant, but anything you do for someone else’s good is a seed you sow. It might be a smile, an encouraging word, making time to listen, praying for someone, or doing a favor for your mom.

Your future lies in the generous seeds you plant today.

Girl Talk: Think about the past day or two. What do you think you’ve been sowing? Were you encouraging and helpful? Or were you sulking and backstabbing?

God Talk: “Lord, I want to plant the right seeds for those around me. Please help me to rely on you and to do the right thing in everything I do. Amen.”
