“They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.”

— Psalm 112:7

Unshakable Trust

Some people have no anxiety about coming danger or receiving bad news. Their minds and emotions are steady, firm, unwavering, and unshakable. How do they attain this wonderful state of being? By trusting in the Lord, relying on him, putting their faith in him, and obeying his commands.

We all receive bad news sometimes. That’s part of life. It might be fairly minor, like your friend can’t go to the movie with you after all. It might be more serious, like getting an F on a test or your report card. Or the bad news can be extremely painful, like the death of a favorite grandparent or your parents’ divorce. We find it very easy to get upset at bad news, crying and lashing out at people, or becoming severely depressed. Instead, we are to have a calm, “steadfast heart” that trusts in the Lord.

A heart with unshakable faith is needed so we can stop, pray for wisdom, and sit back and allow God to work. God will handle those problems that we don’t have the ability to control. Always remember that the bad news you receive does NOT take God by surprise. He’s ready to help you get through it calmly, so that you come out on the other side even stronger.
