If you are a believer, God’s mighty power is working in you. By his power, he is able to accomplish more than we would ever dare to ask or hope.
Maybe you’re having terrible trouble understanding your subjects in school. You read the same paragraphs over and over but can’t understand the meaning. Your grades go from A’s to D’s. “Dear Lord, please help me,” you pray every night. “I don’t want to flunk fifth grade.” One day, a young woman visits your school and gives you some tests. She discovers that an accident the year before, when you hit her head, has left you with a learning disability. The young woman offers to teach you some special ways to read and learn. Within six months, your grades are as high as before the accident.
Sometimes when we pray for God’s help, we hope for just enough help to get by. Yet “no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9 NLT). God doesn’t just want us to have a life in which we barely survive. He wants us to grow stronger and thrive. So pray — and expect answers beyond your wildest dreams!
