Some of these poems are previously published: “That This” originally appeared in The Nation. “Frolic Architecture” was published in a limited edition by Grenfell Press in 2010 with photograms by James Welling. A portion of “The Disappearance Approach” was in the Chicago Review as part of “Choir answers to Choir.” Much of the material in “Frolic Architecture” is collaged from the “private writings” of Hannah Edwards Wetmore, copied by her daughter Lucy Wetmore Whittelsey, now among the Jonathan Edwards papers at the Beinecke Library. In places I relied on Kenneth Minkema’s transcription.
AUTHOR’S NOTE: Thanks are due to Megan Mangum of Words That Work.
