Joe Glickman is a freelance writer and recipient of the Lowell Thomas award for travel writing. His work has appeared in Outside, Men’s Journal, National Geographic Adventure, Backpacker, Canoe & Kayak, US, the Los Angeles Times Sunday Magazine, the Washington Post, and the New York Times. He is the author of To the Top, The Kayak Companion, and The Idiot’s Guide to Weight Lifting. A two-time member of the US National Marathon Kayak Team, he lives in Brooklyn, New York, with his wife, daughter, and a few animals.
