I get busy.
I make my bed
and mop the floor.
I hang two more posters.
I put underwear and socks
in the second-to-the-top drawer
of my bureau.
Games go in the closet.
My books go on the shelves.
The last book I take
from the carton is
Mr. Stoffel’s gift:
The Wind in the Willows.
I bring it to my chair
and begin to read:
“The mole had been working very hard all morning….”
I smile.
A real smile.
You can call me Miss Mole!
