1a. Serre Road No 2 CWGC Cemetery

Return to your transport. Serre No 2 is just a little further along the road on your left hand-side. If you are going to visit this stop, then it can be a good idea to tell the coach driver that you will meet him there and walk there with the group, thus eliminating the coach boarding for such a brief journey. You will pass the French Cemetery on the way. Be aware, however, that cars drive at quite astonishing speeds on this road!

Spiel
This is Serre Road No 2 CWGC British Cemetery. It was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and was partially built on the site of a German stronghold position called the Quadrilateral
Redoubt. There are 7,127 British Graves, 4,944 of which are unknown. There are also thirteen German graves. It is a concentration cemetery and was kept open after the war for burials of newly found remains.
