Many conventional recipes can be adapted for cooking in a slow cooker. The easiest way to adapt a recipe is find a similar one in this book and use it as a guide to modify the original recipe.
Remember that there is less evaporation in the slow cooker than in conventional cooking so reduce the liquid content by about a third. Check towards the end of cooking time and add more boiling liquid if the dish is looking dry.
Since vegetables tend to cook more slowly than meat, make sure they are at the bottom of the slow cooker and chopped more finely.
