A pot of yoghurt or some fresh fruit is a simple and healthy way to end a meal, but sometimes you may feel like something a little more indulgent. Many cakes can be made successfully in a slow cooker. Moist mixtures such as Dark and Sticky Gingerbread work especially well as they require long cooking at a low temperature. These types of cake are usually allowed to mature before eating, but this isn't necessary when they are made in the slow cooker.
The cakes suggested here are all small-sized ones that cut into four slices and may be frozen. Some are covered with delicious frostings but, if you prefer, you can finish them by sprinkling with a few chopped or flaked nuts before cooking, or by simply dusting with icing (confectioners') sugar afterwards.
