So if you made it this far, you’ve experienced a pretty full dose of Stefan Kopriva. It should be pretty clear why he’s been labeled my “whipping boy” by some of my readers.

One early reader of Friend of the Departed opined that this was it for Stef. This final book was the final book.

I don’t think so. (Note: it isn’t. – Frank, 2024)

See, Stef is a survivor. He bitches and moans and throws himself more than a few pity parties in these pages, but he survives. He doesn’t give up, even though life has thrown him some pretty terrible curves...some of which are completely his fault.

I’m fascinated with the concept of redemption, as I mentioned in the introduction. Can a person recover from a cataclysmic failure, or a terrible wrong? Will people ever let that happen? How much work does it take? How can one forgive oneself?

See, I don’t know if I have thoroughly answered that question, at least to my own satisfaction. In these pages, maybe I’ve started to fully ask the question, though.

For that reason alone, I think Kopriva will be back.

Besides, I have to know how he will handle the loss of his leg. Even more than that, how he will handle this new relationship with Anna. I want to get to know her better, too. And why did Clell have to go to North Dakota suddenly? I suspect Kopriva will find out, and maybe have to do more than that.

As Kopriva himself said when the doctor told him he was lucky to be alive...I guess we’ll see.

I hope you enjoyed The Stefan Kopriva Collection! If you did, would you consider leaving a quick review? Reviews really help independent authors, and even though some authors say they don’t read them, I do. I learn from your thoughts, and I appreciate that you can help inform other prospective readers.
