Tadpoles and Frogs: Ten Frames!

Let’s get back to making 10! Did you know that baby frogs don’t look anything like frogs? They’re called tadpoles, and they look more like little fish!

Imagine if we had little tadpole houses, and slowly but surely, the tadpoles grew into frogs. So it starts out looking like this:

 

After several weeks of good food and good times, the tadpoles begin to become frogs! There are still 10 little creatures, but now we see 1 frog + 9 tadpoles. This is a way of showing how 1 + 9 = 10. See what I mean?

And below, we see 3 frogs and 7 tadpoles, which shows 3 + 7 = 10.
