Acknowledgments

This book lists my name as the author but should really be credited to the many people who helped me on this journey. I have to start with my acquisitions editor, Jennifer DiDomenico, who encouraged me to embark on this project and nurtured it to completion. This book is based on research, and I am grateful to all my research collaborators, especially Wayne Hoyer, Andrew Gershoff, Raj Raghunathan, and many others. I am truly lucky to have such knowledgeable and generous people in my life – friends I can turn to for ideas, advice, and help. I am in debt to the reviewers who saw potential in early versions of this book and offered many suggestions for improvement. A large part of this book was written during a sabbatical leave granted by McGill University, for which I am thankful. I would also like to acknowledge financial support for my research from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Finally, whatever I have accomplished is because of the unconditional love and support of my family – my parents Ena and Ashim, my wife Vladimira, daughter Tara, and sisters Pia and Panchali. Thank you for everything.
