This is a delightful valley of meadow and forest which grows in drama the deeper you penetrate. Buses run daily from Längenfeld to Gries-im-Sulztal, its only village, which has a car park at its eastern end. This serves as the trailhead for the main walking interest leading to the Winnebachsee and Amberger Huts, described below, but a much shorter circular walk is also given which remains close to Gries.

Using a combination of footpaths and tracks, a short and pleasant circular walk can be made which gives an introduction to the valley.
From the bus stop by the tourist office, walk through the village heading upvalley, then take a side road on the left which slopes uphill between hay meadows, makes a couple of loops and brings you to the buildings of Winnebach (1692m, accommodation and refreshments). On coming to the first building on the right, leave the road and take a signed path climbing above it. This swings to the right and crosses a bridge over the Winnebach torrent. A track then takes you among trees, and shortly afterwards contours along the hillside to provide lovely views down to Gries and the lower valley.
Before long the way eases downhill and brings you onto a dirt road. Turn left along the road, and about 6mins on it crosses the Fischbach river. Immediately across the bridge fork right and descend a slope on a track among trees. You then follow the river all the way back to Gries, sometimes among trees, sometimes along the edge of hay meadows. Ignore two bridges, and continue on the track until you reach a third bridge near the Tiroler Hütte. Cross this into the centre of Gries.
