The muscle-bound Bald Man knew he shouldn’t be following the trainee. The Grey-Haired Man had been clear, he was to keep an eye on Chyłka. But when he saw Oryński leaving the Skylight building with a colleague, he’d set off after them. His anxiety grew as they came ever closer to the apartment complex.
He knew he shouldn’t make direct contact with the person he was following. It was against all the rules, and his boss had said to intervene only when absolutely necessary. But this situation was exceptional – the Bald Man had to know why the trainee was there. After all, he was Chyłka’s errand boy, so she must have told him to go.
‘’Sup?’ asked the receptionist by way of greeting.
The hulk eyed him up. Decent body, though not as good as his own. And those extra-tight-fitting clothes looked as if they were about to burst at the seams.
‘What did that guy want?’ asked the Bald Man.
‘To get his dick wet, like everyone else,’ replied the receptionist with a smirk.
‘Be more specific.’
For a moment there was silence.
‘And what business is it of yours?’
‘I’m asking nicely.’
The receptionist seemed to have no intention of cooperating. The Bald Man thought about waiting for him outside the club until he finished work, then explaining why it was unwise to avoid answering his questions.
But he decided against it, because there was no time to waste. He had to find out where Oryński and his companion were headed.
‘Who do you hang out with?’ he asked.
He could see that the receptionist wanted to tell him in no uncertain terms where to get off, but was biting his tongue.
The receptionist wasn’t actually scared; he just saw the hulk as a potential client, and as such, should not be discouraged.
‘Depends,’ replied the receptionist.
‘That means no one,’ said the Bald Man. ‘Have you heard of the Grey-Haired Man?’
The sudden flash of interest in the receptionist’s eyes confirmed that he had.
A moment later, the hulk had all the information he wanted. He gave a sigh of relief. Chyłka and Oryński were chasing their own tails. Everything was in perfect order.
