Chapter 7

They headed down the hallway to another room. Skull opened the door slowly and looked inside. The room was full of items which he had to think hard for a moment to remember what they were called. ‘Gym equipment’ he recalled.

“In here! This is where they come to pump iron or whatever.”

Skull pulled Jax into the room. Jax’s eyes burned like hell as he tried to focus and see the next pit of hell Skull had put them in. He rubbed his eyes.

“This plan is bullshit. You know this.”

Skull was about to agree with him when two large males came into the room. Skull pushed Jax back, so the humans could come into the room without brushing against the demons. Jax’s eyes finally stopped stinging,  so he saw the males come in. They were at least six foot four. They wore tank tops with the gym logo on them and sweatpants. Jax looked down at their feet. Their sneakers were Nike’s - the brand and it’s tagline seemed to flash into his mind. Just do it! All this new information just started to come to mind. He wasn’t sure if he was crazy or if he liked it. He leaned forward to whisper in Skull’s ear.

“The sneakers are telling me to ‘Just do it!’!”

Skull looked at the males as they went to their machines and started to setup.

Before they started working out one of the males went to the wall and waved his hand at a glass case with some kind of box. As the glass opened the male spoke.

“I get to pick the music this time!”

“Fine,” the other man said as he set the weight for his machine. Jax wasn’t sure what was happening as the room filled with sound. He watched as the male who picked the music start to bob his head while the music blared through the room.

This is called music? Jax thought. The song was Bust A Move by Young MC. Jax wasn’t sure about it, but he watched the males start to pump the iron.

“I feel like we are getting signs here.”

He looked to the right of Skull and saw a shelf full of free weights. Jax picked up one of them with the number fifty on it.

“Let’s do it and bust a move.”

Before Skull could tell him that they needed to be sneaky, Jax rushed at the closest male. His cloak vanished, and the male saw him.

“WHAT THE FUCK?” The man yelled this as his brain tried to understand what he had just seen.

“Jax, no!”

Skull was too late. Jax had used the free weight to knock the male out. As the first human hit the ground, the other male didn’t really blink. He picked up the forty five pound weight plate and was about to hurl it at the demon he saw. Skull noticed a machine behind the knocked out male. He wasn’t sure at first what it was or what it was for. It didn’t stop him from taking hold of the bar that hung from it. The lateral pull-down machine was what Skull had taken hold of. Skull tried to pull it off, but the male on the floor had set the weight to one hundred. With a feral grunt he yanked on the bar and started for the other male. The male hurled the weight plate like a frisbee. It hit Skull in the chest, which knocked him back so hard he ripped the bar from the machine. The cord snapped and the weights that it pulled up slammed back down.

Jax moved the free weight in his hand to the other and snarled at the conscious male. He wasn’t sure if the man could see both demons, but at this point he didn’t care. He leaped over the male on the floor and flew past Skull. He wanted blood and he was sick of playing by the human’s rules. His mind started to fill with all the things in the room and what they were and the ways they were used. The male managed to dodge the first swing. He never got in a shot. He punched Jax in the throat making him choke for a moment. Skull recovered from the plate hitting him and he knew his cloak had left him too.

The male’s eyes almost bugged out of his head.

“Look, I don’t want any trouble. George and I just wanted to work out. We have a competition in two weeks.”

George must be the male on the floor, Jax thought. He smiled at the male and let his jaw come unhinged.  The song ended, and another started as Jax proceeded to eat the human. Gangnam Style by Psy started. Skull wasn’t sure why he knew that, but he could understand the song perfectly. To his shock he liked it. He turned his attention to the male on the floor.

“Well I guess I got no choice.”

He followed suit and ate the unconscious man. Both demons waited for the transformation to happen. Once it did they looked each other over.

“Well it’s better than the last two,” Jax said, looking at Skull.

Skull’s new form was a male with bright green eyes, who stood six foot four with a shaved head. His body was totally hairless and extremely tan with a veiny exterior. The clothes he wore fit tight on him. Skull didn’t really like it. He also felt a little shaky.

“I think you broke mine,” he said to Jax as he looked at Jax, who seemed to be processing everything.

“Is there a problem with yours?”

Jax wasn’t sure how to answer him. His face twisted into a confused look.

“I don’t know. I believe this one might have loved the one you’re wearing. Or maybe it was from the same mother.”

Jax’s new body was the same height as Skull’s, with short strawberry blond hair, and blue eyes. The skin was tan also but covered in markings. Tattoos was what they were called. If Jax was honest, he liked his meat suit better than Skull’s. The sheer number of veins all over it was gross to him. Skull waved his hand to use his magic to set the room as it was before the demons came in. The music stopped, and the demons left the room. As they left the room their brains started to process everything their new meat suits knew and felt. Jax stopped short. He panned the area. His new suit wanted something called caffeine. He paused and looked at Skull.

“What the hell is caffeine...?”
