Jesus didn’t hesitate to confront the Jews about their conduct in the temple. What did Jesus do in response to the way the Jews were observing the Sabbath?

The first major conflict over the Sabbath broke out in the wake of a quiet Sabbath healing at the pool of Bethesda. Almost as soon as the healed man picked up his bed (for the first time in thirty-eight years) and began to walk away, he met some religious leaders who accused him of breaking the Sabbath. Before the day was over, Jesus would justify His own breaking of the Pharisees’ Sabbath restrictions by saying He was God’s Son and therefore perfectly free to do what God Himself does on the Sabbath.
