Nate Appleman, the culinary manager at Chipotle, won the James Beard Foundation’s Rising Star Chef and Food & Wine’s Best New Chef in 2009. He is a co-author of A16 Food + Wine.

Donatella Arpaia is owner of Donatella in New York, author of Donatella Cooks, and a judge on The Next Iron Chef.

Joe Bastianich is co-owner of twenty-two restaurants, including Babbo and Del Posto, three wineries, and the New York food emporium Eataly. He is the author of Grandi Vini and a judge on MasterChef.

Rick Bayless, chef-owner of the Frontera restaurant group in Chicago, has earned six James Beard honors, including Humanitarian of the Year, 1998. The first winner of Top Chef Masters, he has written many books and hosts Mexico—One Plate at a Time on PBS.

Michelle Bernstein, chef-owner of Michy’s, Sra. Martinez and Crumb on Parchment bakery in Miami, was 2007’s James Beard Best Chef: South.

Cat Cora is an owner of Kouzzina in Orlando, CCQ in Costa Mesa, and Cat Cora’s Kitchen at SFO; the author of three books; and an original Iron Chef America star.

Gregory Gourdet is chef de cuisine at Departure Restaurant + Lounge in Portland, Oregon. He was a Food & Wine People’s Best New Chef nominee in 2011.

Laurent Gras was a Food & Wine Best New Chef in 2002, and executive chef and partner at Chicago’s L20 when it earned three Michelin stars in 2010.

Alexandra Guarnaschelli is executive chef at Butter and the Darby in New York, a judge on Chopped, and the host of The Cooking Loft and Alex’s Day Off.

Karen Hatfield and Quinn Hatfield are pastry chef and chef, respectively, of Hatfield’s in Los Angeles, which they own, along with Sycamore Kitchen. In 2010 Hatfield’s was named one of Bon Appetit’s 10 Best New Restaurants.

Thomas Keller is the first American chef to hold three Michelin stars at two restaurants: Per Se in New York City, and French Laundry in Yountville, California, which twice topped Restaurant magazine’s ranking of the Top 50 Restaurants of the World. He is also chef-owner of Bouchon, Bouchon Bakery and ad hoc, and a co-author of several cookbooks.

Matt Lee and Ted Lee won the James Beard 2007 Cookbook of the Year award for The Lee Bros. Southern Cookbook.

Susur Lee is chef-owner of Lee in Toronto and executive consulting chef of Zentan in Washington, D.C. He is author of Susur: A Culinary Life.

Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson, chef-owner of Frasca Food and Wine in Boulder, Colorado, was a 2005 Food & Wine Best New Chef and 2008 James Beard Best Chef: Southwest.

Mark McEwan is chef-owner of Fabbrica, ONE, North 44, and Bymark in Toronto, and the head judge of Top Chef Canada.

Rick Moonen, chef-owner of rm seafood in Las Vegas, and author of Fish Without a Doubt, was a finalist on Top Chef Masters.

Masaharu Morimoto, executive chef of Morimoto restaurants in New York, Philadelphia, Boca Raton, Napa, and Waikiki, is a star of both the Japanese and U.S. editions of Iron Chef.

Marc Murphy, executive chef-owner of Benchmarc restaurants, including Landmarc and Ditch Plains in New York, is a judge on Chopped.

Melissa Perello is chef-owner of Frances in San Francisco, which earned a Michelin star and was one of Bon Appetit’s 10 Best Restaurants in America, 2010.

Naomi Pomeroy, chef-owner of Beast in Portland, Oregon, was a 2009 Food & Wine Best New Chef and 2010 finalist for the James Beard Best Chef: Pacific Northwest.

Michael Psilakis is chef-owner of Kefi, Fish Tag, and MP Taverna in New York. Bon Appetit’s 2008 Chef of the Year, he is author of How to Roast a Lamb.

Wolfgang Puck is chef-owner of Spago, which received two Michelin stars, and other restaurants in the United States, Tokyo, Singapore, London, and Toronto, and author of several cookbooks.

Andrea Reusing, chef-owner of Lantern in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, won the 2011 James Beard Award for Best Chef: Southeast. She is the author of Cooking in the Moment.

Eric Ripert is chef and co-owner of Le Bernardin, creative director of 10 Arts in Philadelphia, and of Westend Bistro in Washington, D.C. He is the recipient of France’s Légion d’Honneur.

Marcus Samuelsson is chef-owner of Red Rooster Harlem and cofounder of the Marcus Samuelsson Group. He received the 2003 James Beard Award for Best Chef: New York City, and won Top Chef Masters.

Nancy Silverton, head baker and co-owner of La Brea Bakery, and chef and co-owner of Pizzeria Mozza and Osteria Mozza, won the 1991 James Beard Award for Outstanding Pastry Chef. She is the author of The Mozza Cookbook and others.

Art Smith, executive chef and co-owner of Table Fifty-Two in Chicago, Art and Soul in Washington, D.C., Southern Art and Bourbon Bar in Atlanta, and executive chef of Joanne in New York City, received the 2007 James Beard Award for Humanitarian of the Year.

Alessandro Stratta, former executive chef and owner of Alex at Wynn Las Vegas, which earned two Michelin stars, received the 1998 James Beard Award for Best Chef: Southwest. He is a consulting chef for Bigoli in New York City.

Michael Symon is chef-owner of Lola, Lolita, and B Spot in Cleveland, and Michael Symon’s Roast in Detroit. The co-author of Michael Symon’s Live to Cook, he won the 2009 James Beard Award for Best Chef: Great Lakes.

Jacques Torres, owner of Jacques Torres Chocolates, won the 1994 James Beard Award for Outstanding Pastry Chef while at Le Cirque. He is the author of Dessert Circus and other books.

Sue Torres is chef-owner of Sueños and consulting executive chef of Rusty Knot, both in New York. She has been a judge on Chopped and Iron Chef America.

Ming Tsai is chef-owner of Blue Ginger in Wellesley, Massachusetts, and host and executive producer of PBS’s Simply Ming. He received the 2002 James Beard Award for Best Chef: Northeast.

David Waltuck was the chef and co-owner of Chanterelle in New York City, winner of the James Beard Award for Outstanding Restaurant. He is executive chef for Ark Restaurants.

Simpson Wong is chef-owner of Wong and Café Asean, and formerly of Jefferson, all in New York City.
