Networks are indispensable in organizations and will always be in focus when security is brought up. A cybersecurity professional should be familiar with networking skills such as subnetting, network segmentation, and isolation. In addition, they should know how to set up firewalls and intrusion detection systems. Ideally, they should be able to do the basic setup and maintenance tasks in networks. They should be familiar with how the organizational network is laid out, as well and be in a position to alter it when necessary.
